Meet The Champions - Tom Scrowston

We kick off the "Meet The Champions" with Pocks very own, Tom Scrowston

Having come through the youth set up at the club, how does it feel to captain the club to their first ever Humber Premier League title?

"Unbelievable feeling absolutely buzzing. Even happier for Joe and Woko as well because everyone knows how hard they’ve worked year after year, to finally get that title for them is just class. Credit to all the lads that have been involved this season players that have stepped up from other teams are all part of it putting in the graft week in week out. Every single person gave absolutely everything no less than 100% every game so to get that trophy just tops it off and is fully deserved, buzzing for all the lads everyone at the club."

What advice would you give to any young player at the club that will be hoping to follow in your footsteps ?

"I think the main thing is hard work, training every week and giving your all in games. It’s definitely something the club stands by and you’ll always improve this way. Take every opportunity you can and enjoy it. "

What is your best/favourite moment of the season?

"I think the best moment has to be the Hedon game to seal the title. It was such a massive game knowing that they would go above us if they beat us and could all be over. So it was unreal to put in a performance like that, knowing we were champions when that final whistle went."

As a young captain, is there anyone in particular that has been a big help with the captaincy?

"Yes definitely I think we have a lot of leaders/big characters in the dressing room which has got us to what we achieved this season. I’d say people like Lockwood and Nath definitely helped as you learn a lot from them being around them. Woko and Joe obviously as well, always giving me advice throughout the season. "

What plans/targets have you set for yourself individually and for the team for next season?

"I think we’ve definitely got another shot at winning the league again next season so that would be the target again. With the quality of the squad already and other players coming back from injury we know we have more than a chance. It would be nice to go one better aswell and have some success in the cups."
